Glide thread is a 40 weight (Tex 27) high-tenacity trilobal polyester thread. Highly popular for machine embroidery and longarm quilting, it is engineered with a special trilobal shape that reflects light, giving it a brilliant, rayon-like sheen.
Specifications

Material: 100% Trilobal Polyester (high-tenacity filament yarn).

Thread Weight: 40 wt.

Texture & Finish: Trilobal threads are designed to reflect more light, giving the thread a brilliant, high-sheen finish that mimics the look of rayon.

Tension: Minimal elongation minimizes tension variations from color to color, ensuring uniform tension throughout every spool. A specialized lubricant is applied uniformly during manufacturing to further enhance tension consistency.

Lint: Virtually lint-free, keeping the machine's bobbin area and tensioners much cleaner.

Durability: Excellent wash-fastness and strong resistance to bleaches and most chemicals
Recommended needles

Standard Embroidery & Piecing: Size 75/11 or 80/12. This gives a great balance for the thread weight.

Quilting (Topstitching): Size 90/14 (Quilting or Topstitch needles are ideal). A slightly larger eye helps reduce friction.

Longarm Machines: Sizes 16 (100/16) or 18 (110/18). Opinions on longarms are mixed; some quilters prefer size 16 for better thread balance, while others use an 18 to prevent shredding on heavier projects.

Vinyl, Faux Leather & Cork: Size 90/14 or 100/16 in Microtex/Sharp or Non-Stick needles.
