This class is perfect for those looking to expand their sewing skills using cork while creating something stylish and practical. The cork fabric is a natural, sustainable, vegan, PETA-approved, eco-friendly product from Portugal — Touch Pro and upholstery grade quality, treated with Scotch Guard, UV, and abrasion protectants. Cork also has naturally occurring anti-mildew and anti-bacterial qualities, plus water-resistant properties!

About the Technique

Before threading your needle, it helps to understand what you're actually sewing. Cork fabric isn't solid wood slices — it's a natural composite made of countless tiny, gas-filled honeycomb cells (approximately 40 million cells per cubic centimeter). That means:

Extremely easy to penetrate: You don't need the force required for genuine leather; a regular home machine motor is more than sufficient.
Unique friction properties: Cork's natural non-slip texture is both an advantage and a sewing challenge.

When you complete your first cork project, you're holding more than just a bag — you're working with a material that, when harvested, causes trees to absorb more carbon dioxide as they regenerate. What to Bring

Sewing machine, neutral thread or thread to match your kit color, rotary cutter, mat, rulers, and a basic sewing kit

Cork Sewing Tips

✓ Never use pins – use Wonder Clips instead
✓ Increase stitch length to 2.5–3mm minimum
✓ Leave raw edges – no serging needed
✓ Low heat + pressing cloth when ironing
✓ Topstitch everything for flat, professional seams

Cancellations made within 7 days of the class are non-refundable, but you're welcome to send someone in your place.
No-shows are non-refundable.
